Dear readers,

It’s already November – and you know what this means… holiday collections from our favourite names in makeup and skincare. Here’s the first installment of a multi-part series of entries that will give you a glimpse of  the holiday collections that our favourite brands are parading for the upcoming Christmas/New Year’s season.

Read on for Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Smashbox and Chanel’s gorgeous new offerings for the end of the year!

Clinique

This pioneering less-is-best American brand has released a small but sweet range for the holidays called Strawberry Fudge. Its main attraction is the Limited Edition Holiday Compact (as seen in the photograph above), which features eyeshadows and blushes in a variation of very feminine cool pink and plum shades meant to perk up the face. Clinique’s holiday collection also features a lip liner in a very pretty nude pink shade, their bestselling Vitamin C Lip Smoothie Antioxidant Lip Colour in Strawberry Bliss, and a product I have been hankering after for ages: their High Lengths Mascara. All in all, this campaign is bright, cheerful and youthful – I’m going to check it out personally when I’m over in the US next month on vacation!

Bobbi Brown

Behold, Bobbi Brown’s Choose Your Glam collection. This range is on the cusp of being launched in Singapore (I believe the official launch date is the 20th of this month), and already the hype is deafening. This collection focuses on creating two specific looks: a strong eye with a subtle nude lip, and a lavish red lip paired with a pale eye. Bobbi has created three limited edition eye palettes to create captivating eye looks – the Sultry Eye Palette, the Smoky Eye Palette and the Smoldering Eye Palette. She’s also outdone herself and created brave new shades within her lip color, metallic lip color, lip gloss and lip liner ranges which are bolder, more striking shades of red (almost 1920s inspired!) in both warm and cool undertones. The collection includes two new limited edition pearl-blended glitter liquid eyeliners in gold and silver to add pop to the eyes for festivities’ sake, and a four-brush handy mini brush set for makeup on the go. All in all, a truly timeless, beautiful and versatile collection for the holidays.

Smashbox Cosmetics

Smashbox Cosmetics has come up with a beautiful, dreamy Christmas-themed collection aptly named the WISH Holiday 2010 Collection – and what a comprehensive collection this is! The Eye Wish Palette alone contains 12 eyeshadows, 4 cream liners, their famous Lash DNA mascara, a mini-sized eyelid primer and an instructional lookbook with 10 replicable styles. Smashbox has also come up with an adorable little kit called the Wish List, which consists of primer, under eye brightener, eyeliner, a bronzer/highlighter and a gloss. If you’re looking for a kit that’s a little more specific, never fear – Smashbox also has Wish kits for eyes, lips, and even one dedicated solely to their highly coveted Photo Finish primers. All in all, there’s something for everyone in this collection, no matter what your makeup priority is – and the colours are beautifully sheer and glimmery.

Chanel

Chanel has always been well-known for its classy elegance – its holiday collection for this year is no exception to that wonderful rule. Its campaign this season around is characterised by pinks for the lips (Lèvres Scintillantes in 4 limited edition colours from bright to subtle) and cheeks (Les Tisages de Chanel blush duo in a blend of perky Fuchsia and muted Tweed), blendable chocolatey-pinks for the eyes via the limited edition Les Quartre Ombres eyeshadow palette in Tentation Cuivrée and feminine nail colours to top it off (take your pick from Le Vernis in Pulsion or Mica Rose). All in all, a collection that will call out to the confident woman in us all who’s not afraid to flaunt what she’s got – with style and what the French call la classe. Just the way Coco herself indended.

And that wraps up the first instalment of the series! Stay tuned for the second instalment – coming soon! Thanks for all your support so far and we hope you keep reading belledemoiselle!
