The Rouge Volupte Shine collection is a new addition to the YSL lippies, promising full colour with lustrous shine. The lipsticks are packaged in the same gold metal casing as the original Rouge Volupte, with the embossed logo in the middle over a strip of colour displaying the shade within.
First up; I LOVE the packaging. It’s chic, it’s luxurious and it makes it super easy to identify which lipstick I want to pick up. It’s just so stunningly pretty.
Second; the formula is beautiful. Here’s what the website says:
Introducing Rouge Volupté Shine. Give in to the temptation of dazzling color. Succumb to a unique sensorial experience with extreme comfort and luminous shine. Hyaluronic acid microspheres help seal in moisture for 8 hours of hydration. Anti-oxidants and emollients help condition and soften lips.
The formula of the Rouge Volupte Shine is like liquid butter. It’s creamy and soft and so lightweight on the lips. I feel it’s less balmy than Revlon’s Lip Butters and Dior’s Addicts but it is slightly hydrating for the first couple of hours, and while it is glossy it’s not sticky or bleed beyond the lips; brilliant.
I tend to have really dry lips so the lipstick do cling a little to lines but I find the pigmentation is really lovely, buildable and glides over so it is not as noticeable.
Due to the softness of the formula, this lipstick won’t last through food and drink but I still find some residual colour after a full day, the shade then looks like a light lip balm. On average they show up strong for about 3-4 hours.
Let’s have a look at the colours.
- No 4. Rouge in Danger- a juicy bright mid tone red. Great for summer!
- No 12. Corail Incandescent- a luscious watermelon pink. This has more red tones in it making it more chic and less girly but it is still fairly light
- No 16. Orange Impertinent- a peachy coral. Strangely my favourite as it has some orange tones but it is not full on, very wearable and peachy and natural looking
And here is what they look like on:
All the lipsticks have an apricot scent to them which is quite strong but not cloying. They just make me want to lick my lips a lot! In all I am in love with them. There are a good range of shades available but I find they are all a little similar or at the end of the spectrum (that violet one for example?), I wish there would be more unique shades that I can pick up and must absolutely want. Currently though I am happy with my stash =D
