Hello everyone! As mentioned in a recent post, I won a couple of pretty eyeliner pencils from Clinique Singapore, and they threw in a couple of their bestselling Chubby Stick Shadow Tints for Eyes in as a surprise bonus.
SdV has already raved about these eyeshadow crayons here, so I shan’t bore you with the details and delve straight into chipping my two cents in.
The ones I have are Big Blue and Fuller Fudge.
Contrary to its name, Big Blue is not bold and in-your-face at all. Instead, it a beautiful, ethereal, ultra-light silver-blue that is perfect for daytime use. It blends out smoothly and evenly, and this shade instantly perks up your eyes in the mornings. The blue is not obvious and the silver undertone is delicate. After use, I found to my great delight that my eyes looked brighter and I appeared more awake. I don’t need any other eyeshadow colours on top of this one – this looks great and does the job all by its lonesome.
Fuller Fudge, meanwhile, is a toasty neutral brown with shimmer. What can I say? I love my neutrals, and this is no exception. During a recent wedding I attended, I used this glorious colour as a wash on my lids and simply layered it on for more depth and a darker, more smouldering eye to match an ivory lace dress. It worked brilliantly, and my eyes showed up deeper-set than normal in photos. Again, like Big Blue, I didn’t need any other shades of shadow layered on. All I did was add a quick stroke of Quickliner for Eyes Intense in Intense Aubergine and I was done.
These shadows glide on effortlessly and don’t go on overly pigmented, which gives users the option to pack it on as strongly or lightly as they wish. They also last surprisingly long on oily lids. I only needed one touch-up after about 5 to 6 hours of wear. I love the packaging as well – these shadows twist up and down for convenient dispensing, and their crayon shape means they are far easier to tote about in a makeup pouch than a clunky palette or a mono shadow.
Good job with these shadow tints, Clinique – and thanks again Clinique Singapore for dropping these babies into my lap! I will certainly be repurchasing once I run out.
Now, if only there were matte shades available (hint, hint Clinique) – that would be just dandy.
Clinique’s Chubby Sticks for Eyes retail for AUD$35, SG$30, and USD$17 a pop depending on where you are buying 🙂
PS: Apologies for the lack of swatch in this post. I was unable to get shots that would do both shadows justice. Grrrrrr.
