Hi ladies, hope you’ve had a great week and are anticipating a fun and relaxing weekend ahead! Today’s post will be a brief introduction to a lipstick collection that is not only beautiful, but also rallies behind a beautiful cause.
If you’re into MAC and/or lipsticks, it’s likely you’ve heard of it: MAC’s iconic Viva Glam collection.
You can tell they’re Viva Glam from the red and black packaging 🙂 Want to know more?
Here’s what the MAC website has to say about the history of Viva Glam:
In 1994, M·A·C introduced VIVA GLAM, an outspoken deep red that was universal in appeal and glamour. In 1997, a second lipstick was created: VIVA GLAM II, a pinked mauve. VIVA GLAM III, a foxy brown plum was launched in 2000. VIVA GLAM IV, a heartful rose charged with gold, was introduced in March 2002. In March 2004, Viva Glam V made its debut, a pure neutral pink with a delicious Lustre finish. VIVA GLAM VI is a warm terracotta-plum with pearl finish. Wear it alone or finish it off with a coat of VIVA GLAM VI Lipglass. Every cent of the selling price of VIVA GLAM Lipstick and Lipglass is donated to the M·A·C AIDS Fund to support men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS.
All the Viva Glam editions mentioned in the blurb above are permanent members of the MAC lipstick repertoire. To date, sales from the Viva Glam collection have raised a whopping USD 202 million for the MAC AIDS Fund. Who knew that the simple act of buying a lipstick could contribute to such an important cause?
It’s little wonder then that Lady Gaga, fashion/music icon and HIV/AIDS activist, joined the Viva Glam movement. Initially, she and music legend and fellow activist Cyndi Lauper teamed up to produce the first celebrity limited edition Viva Glam lipsticks – Viva Glam Gaga (the bubblegum pink on the left) and Viva Glam Cyndi (the glorious red on the right).
Both of these colours were so well-received that Gaga then came up with a second lipstick, the ultra-natural beige-toned Viva Glam Gaga II (this shade also comes in lipglass form):
I recently checked out all Viva Glam colours at a nearby MAC counter (yes, they are ALL available in Singapore – even the Gaga and Cyndi editions!) and was thoroughly impressed. The colours glide on easily, are creamy but not drying, colour payoff was brilliant (one swipe = perfect amount of colour), and for a very affordable SGD 28.00 with all proceeds going to a great cause, what is there not to like about this collection?
If you haven’t already, do go check it out 🙂 Have a great weekend, all!
