As previously mentioned, my skin has been misbehaving lately and it prompted my purchase of Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief. With that purchase, I received a sample of Clinique’s Anti-Blemish Solutions Oil-Control Cleansing Mask (marketed under the moniker Acne Solutions Oil-Control Cleansing Mask in the US/European markets). It lasted a month, and I enjoyed it so much that I went out and bought a full tube.

The Clinique website says the following about this product:
So what was my verdict?
Soothing? Surprisingly so. Many clay-based acne-targeted masks that I’ve tried over the years have tended to make my skin extremely uncomfortable and too tight upon application, but this one didn’t. This white, rather light, creamy paste of a mask felt good immediately upon application: I could definitely feel my pores tightening, but I didn’t feel like if I moved a facial muscle, the entire mask would crack and disintegrate into a powdery mess.
Also, I was initially surprised at the instructions to leave the mask on for only five minutes before rinsing off, but you can feel it working rather quickly. After washing it off, my skin felt soft and comfortable, pores were more refined, and my blemishes were less red and angry. Plus, all traces of oil (particulary in the T-zone, to my delight) were gone. Score one for oily/combination-skinned ladies!
The sample I initially received lasted me one application a week for a month (great value for the tiny amount I was given), and in addition to amusing my housemates with my walking around the apartment white-faced, I found my skin texture and condition improving nicely over the course of the month. I found that my blemishes receded and healed far quicker than they would normally, which was a lovely little side effect.
And their claim about no irritation rang true for me. No blotching, itchiness, excessive dryness or flaking occurred as a result of using this mask. Again, score one – this time for sensitive-skinned girls!
Pour conclure, I love this mask, look forward to using it in the coming months and will be closely monitoring my skin’s long-term response and adaptation to it. So far, all signs point to the positive.
A 100ml tube costs RM105 in Malaysia and about SGD45 to 49 (not completely certain, will update once I’ve double-checked at Sephora). Again, minor gripe, it goes for only USD19.50 in the States (trust me, I will be stocking up when I visit)! However, it’s still great bang for your buck as a little goes a very long way, like most Clinique products – and there’s no need to layer it on thick, a nice thin layer does the trick nicely. There’s a reason why I’m such a devoted Clinique girl – because their products really do work for me, and this mask is no exception.
I would strongly recommend this product to fellow oily/combination and sensitive-skinned girls – and you don’t have to use this mask as part of the Clinique Anti-Blemish/Acne Solutions Three-Step range, it works brilliantly as a stand-alone product.

I’ve only used the Lady Soma Antioxidant Berry Masque twice so far, but I’ve already seen results! I have very sensitive combination skin so the Lady Soma skincare products are perfect for me becuase they focus on leveling the Ph levels in your skin. I use the face masque at night before bed and the next morning most of my blemishes are already cleared up! Its definitely effective and smells good!
Thanks for your input Sonja
Unfortunately it’s a brand unavailable to us here in Asia but we’ll definitely look for it during our travels.
